The Kremlin has complained that the Ukrainian strike on a fuel depot in Russian city of Belgorod “Does not create good conditions” for the resumption of peace talks with Kyiv a few hours before the resumption of talks in a few hours.
Russia has accused Ukraine of attacking the fuel depot, but Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said that the Russian authorities were doing everything they could to reorganize the fuel supply chain and avoid problems with the Belgorod supply.
Conflicting messages
It is noted that at the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that in peace talks with Ukraine “some progress” has been made.
According to Reuters, Sergei Lavrov announced that Moscow is preparing its response to the Ukrainian proposals, which were submitted on Tuesday in Istanbul, which include, among other things, Kiev’s offer of neutrality in exchange for security guarantees.
Diplomatic ferment between Erdogan and Putin and Zelensky
Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a telephone conversation today with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Kremlin announced today, after a meeting between a Russian and a Ukrainian delegation was hosted in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday and said Turkey was ready to act as a guarantor for Ukraine.
At the same time, Ankara has offered to mediate in resolving the crisis.
