The United Kingdom is purchasing six new Land Cepptor-air missile-air missile systems, as officially announced today by the Ministry of Defense.

The investment of £ 118m is expected to secure jobs and stimulate growth in northwestern England.

The new systems will be included in Sky Sabre, a state -of -the -art defense system capable of intercepting rockets, aircraft and drones. Its accuracy is impressive, as it can hit a tennis ball size target of twice as much speed from that of sound.

The sophisticated system can also control the 24 missile flight, guiding each one to stop a separate target. With this move, the United Kingdom essentially doubles the number of operational Sky Sabre systems operated by the Armed Forces in an effort to overall air defense enhancement.

Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard said:

“We are implementing strategic defense review, equipping our armed forces with cutting -edge technology to keep us safe. Doubling our Sky Sabre operational capacity will enhance the UK air defense, protect British forces abroad and prevent our opponents. Through this investment we support more than 100 jobs across the United Kingdom, and more. We apply the “plan for the change” of the government with defense as a growth engine, enhancing our industrial capacity and national well -being. “
