The UN Nuclear power service today confirmed that radioactivity near the Kursk nuclear power plant, 60 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, is at normal levels.

“Surveillance confirms normal levels of radioactivity,” the International Atomic Energy Organization said in a report on X.

Meanwhile, the fire that broke out in the refinery in the city of Novosakhschsk, Russia, after a blow to a Ukrainian unmanned aircraft (drone) rages today for the fourth day, according to the local ruler of the area.

A fire broke out in Novosachsk on Thursday. The refinery there sells fuel mainly for export and its annual capacity reaches five million metric tons of oil or about 100,000 barrels a day.

“The fire area at the Novosachsk Petroleum Unit has now decreased,” he told Telegram. “From August 21, firefighters are fighting to extinguish a fire at the oil unit … suffered damage after a hostile attack.”

He said that 412 people and 150 types of equipment are used in the emergency services, including fire trains.
