“Our experts continue to look at a number of reports”he continued.

Five of these sites are located in the Chernihiv region (north), a city that has been pounded by the Russian army, which has been included in an “indicative” Unesco list, meaning that Kyiv must submit its candidacy to be part of in UN World Heritage.

Another five are in the Kiev region and 18 in the Kharkiv region, which is also the target of heavy bombardment, according to the Unesco list in the possession of the French Agency. The remaining areas are divided between the regions of Sumy (northeast), Zhytomyr (west of Kiev), Zaporizhia (south), Donetsk and Luhansk (east).

Asked if he was aware that these destructions were committed by Russian forces, the spokesman replied:

“For these 53 sites, in which we were able to verify the damage, there were reports made by the Ukrainian authorities”implying that Moscow is responsible.
