Serious damage was suffered by the building where the European Union delegation in Kiev is housed, in the context of the latest intense attacks launched by Russia in the Ukrainian capital as revealed in a post on social media by the European Marta Enlargement Commissioner.

“The EU delegation in Kiev was damaged by today’s Russian attacks in civilian areas,” the European Commissioner said.

“I strongly condemn these brutal attacks, a clear sign that Russia rejects peace and chooses terrorism,” he added.

Concluding Martha Mr expressed our “complete solidarity” in the EU staff, their families and to all the Ukrainians who suffer this aggression.

The EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Matrnova, said that the EU delegation building suffered “serious damage to the shock wave” caused by the “mass” Russian attack barrage by unmanned aircraft and ballistic missiles during the night.

Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrei Simbica said Russia’s attack “targeted diplomats – in violation of the Vienna Treaty”. Simbicha added that the attack “requires the condemnation of not only the EU but also the global community”. “We express our solidarity with our colleagues in the EU and we are ready to provide help,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister added.

The head of European diplomacy Kaya Calas said, for her part, that the Russian attack at night was “a deliberate choice of escalating and ridicule of peacekeeping”.
