The White House launched an attack on Politico today, which belongs to the German Axel Springer group, describing the “foreign influence” after the publication of an article that criticized the negotiations of US Presidential Side Witten on Ukraine.

US Vice President Jay Di Vance was against Politico, which was purchased in 2021 by the German media colossus Axel Springer, on the occasion of a report cited by anonymous officials who said “the inexperience of Witkov is evident” in his talks.

“Politico’s article is a bad journalistic practice. But it is more: this is a foreign influence business aimed at hurting the government and one of its most effective members, “Vance told X.

A series of other White House officials have launched attacks on Politico, with Deputy Officer James Blair describing the article “a foreign influence business through an online media under German control”.

Officials did not provide any evidence of a foreign power or government involved behind the report.

This is not the first time that the Trump government has been rushing to defend Steve Whitkov, who is accused by critics of his role as a special envoy.

Attacks on Politico came as Berlin and Paris have doubted whether Trump’s peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine would attribute, with German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz to declare that the war will last for many months.

Whitkov, a real estate tycoon, was appointed by Trump a special envoy to the peace talks aimed at ending the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, despite having no diplomatic experience.

Politico’s article was one of a series of publications in recent days, including The Atlantic, who argued that Witkov’s negotiations with Russia are confusing.

Whitkov has made many trips to Moscow for meetings with Vladimir Putin.
