London, Yiannis Haniotakis

890 arrests were made by the London Metropolitan Police during yesterday’s support for the Palestine Action as a terrorist organization.

More specifically, according to the official announcement, a total of 857 people were arrested under the anti -terrorist law, on charges of supporting a banned organization. In addition, 33 people were arrested for other offenses, including 17 attacks on police and other public order violations, as the protest took a violent turn.

All the detainees were initially transferred to a specially designed center of prisoners in the Westminster area. From there, 341 people, whose identity were confirmed, were released on a guarantee and ordered to be presented to a police station on a later date.

However, 519 people were transferred to various detention centers in the Metropolitan Police in London. This group included those who refused to provide their details, as well as those who were found to have been arrested in the past and were out of prison on restrictive terms.

The Anti -Terrorist Service of the Metropolitan Police has now been responsible for the investigation of 857 arrested for violating the anti -terrorist legislation. It is noted that in recent weeks, authorities have intensified their cooperation with the Crown Public Prosecutor’s Office to accelerate the categories of charges to people arrested to support banned organizations.

“The violence we encountered was coordinated and came from a group of people, many of whom wore masks to hide their identity, with the intention of creating as much turmoil as possible. Many of them have now been arrested and we have begun to recite charges, “a spokesman for the authorities said.
