The President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas met yesterday night with the Labor Prime Minister, Star starin Downing Street, in the center of the capital of Britain, as London is approaching as the days are over in the recognition of a Palestinian state.

The two leaders discussed “the urgent need to end the terrible suffering and the famine” in the Gaza Strip and to release the hostages that Hamas still holds, a spokesman for Downing Street number 10 said.

Mr Abbas praised the British government’s “commitment” to “recognize Palestinian state during the UN General Assembly”, which begins today September 9th and will continue until Tuesday September 23rd in New York, if Israel “does not change”.

Various countries, including France, have announced their intention to recognize a Palestinian state during the General Assembly.

Mr Starmer had announced in late July that Britain would recognize Palestinian state in September if Israel did not undertake a series of commitments, including declaring a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

This announcement was condemned by the Israeli government.

At their meeting, Mr. Starmer and Abbas agreed that there was no “role for Hamas in the future Palestinian government” and insisted on the need to find a “long -term solution” to the conflict.

And Israeli President Hertsog in London

Mahmoud Abbas, 89, arrived in London Sunday night for a three -day visit.

Last month, the US refused to issue or cancel passport visa some 80 Palestinians, including its own, to go to the UN General Assembly.

At their meeting, Mr Starmer “praised” Mr. Abbas’ commitment to promote “reforms to the Palestinian Authority”.

Israeli President Isaac Hertzog is also expected in the United Kingdom. According to his office, he leaves today for a “official visit to London” and will return to his country on Friday.

Mr Starmer’s services have not been confirmed by the services of the two men so far.

The president of Israel will “focus” on “diplomatic meetings” that will need to release hostages “alongside other political issues”, according to his services. He will have meetings with members of the British Parliament, opinion makers and media personalities, always during the Israeli Presidency.

The purpose of Isaac Hertzog’s visit, which has a mainly ceremonial role, is to show “solidarity with the Jewish community, which has violent attacks and faces a wave of anti -Semitism,” according to the same source.

He was invited by the “main community organizations” of the Israelites, at an event of which he will speak, in the context of Israel’s “support” events and “in the struggle against anti -Semitism”.

The Benjamin Netanyahu government equates the recognition of a Palestinian state with a “award in Hamas” after its unprecedented attack on Israeli territory almost two years ago.

The Hamas military arm raid in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, resulted in 1,219 people on the Israeli side, most of them civilians, according to a countdown by the French Agency based on official data.

In large -scale Israeli military retaliation military operations have since died at least 64,522 people in the Palestinian enclave, most of them female children, according to the most recent numbers by the Hamas Government Ministry of Health, which are considered credible by the UN.
