Romania announced that its airspace was violated by a drone during a Russian attack on infrastructure in Ukraine.

The Romanian defense recruited two F-16 fighter aircraft to oversee the situation and “detected a drone in the national airspace”.

“They watched it until it disappeared from the radar” near the village of Kilia Veke, the Romanian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The drone “did not fly over residential areas and was not an immediate threat to the security of the population” in Romania, as a member of NATO Poland.

At the same time, Poland and the Atlantic Alliance developed helicopters and fighter aircraft due to attacks by Russian unmanned aircraft in Ukraine, near the border with Poland.

Poland and the NATO countries with a military presence on Polish territory have been in a state of alert since September 10, when about twenty Russian drones penetrated the Polish territory.

Fragments of drones have repeatedly crashed on Romanian territory since the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine in February 2022, especially when Moscow increased attacks on Ukrainian ports.

In February, the Romanian parliament has passed a law that allows the drains of drones that violate Romania’s airspace.
