Israel accused Hamas on Saturday of opening fire against a UN team that had undertaken to open a new humanitarian corridor in the Gaza Strip.

Specifically, the coordinator of government activities in the Palestinian territories of Israel, also known as Cogat, said that Hamas fighters opened fire on UN workers who had taken over the opening of a new route for the movement of trucks from Kerem Salom.

According to Cogat, Hamas fighters stole the UN vehicles and placed sand sacks on the route to prevent new humanitarian aid efforts.

Cogat chief Lieutenant General Gassan Alian said that “Hamas proves again and again that she is not interested in the well -being of Gaza Strip residents, but only in her terrorist motives.”

As she pointed out, “even when the state of Israel is working with the UN and international organizations to expand the scope of humanitarian aid, Hamas is desperately trying to cancel the effort, thus abandoning once again the residents who claims to be represented and subdued.”

Alian strongly condemned Hamas’ attack on UN workers. “We will not allow Hamas to once again create false narratives of a crisis in the Gaza Strip and will continue to reveal its cruelty,” he said.

Hamas sabotages to gain assistance to Gaza
Notifying images of damaged vehicles, Cogat condemned Hamas for “a deliberate attempt to prevent the adaptation of humanitarian infrastructures to the southern lane of Gaza, while at the same time immediately damaging the efforts of international aid organizations and their staff to create a crisis.”

The announcement comes a day after Unicef admitted that “armed people”, which Cogat named Hamas, stole humanitarian aid trucks full of baby milk in the city of Gaza.
