On Sunday, there are elections in the country that are considered the most important of its independence in 1991, as Russia wishes to bring it back under its influence. If one believes the videos in Tiktok, then terror is currently reigning in the Moldovan Republic. A “dictatorship” of pro-European President Maya Sandou and the ruling liberal-conservative action and solidarity (PAS) party. A “puppet status” sold in the EU, NATO and billionaire US Stock Exchange George Soros – with the aim of destroying Moldovan agriculture, “installing the Ideology of LOATKI” and driving the country in a war against Russian.

Among those who publish such statements almost daily to Tiktok is former Moldovan President Igor Dodon, a loyal fan of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dodon is head of the Moldovan Socialist Party (PSRM) and leader of the Electoral Alliance of the Patriots Bloc. The alliance logo depicts a white and red star with a heart in, and the Soviet symbol is incorporated into it. Dodon describes himself as a right -wing, dedicated to “traditional values” and likes to end his videos with the Christian Orthodox greeting “God to help us!”

A mixture of hatred for Europe and the West, Soviet nostalgia, faith in the Kremlin, Christian Orthodox Religion and Right Populism, finds an important part of Moldovan society – possibly because of the precarious socio -economic state of many people in the country. This trend was already apparent a year ago. At that time, Moldovan President Maya Sandu won marginally elections for her second term. A simultaneous referendum on the EU resulted in only a minimum majority of a few thousand votes in favor of a European perspective for the Moldovan Republic.

Almost half are undecided

But now the political situation in the country could really be overthrown. The regular parliamentary elections on Sunday have been the first since the Moldovan Republic, along with Ukraine, have received a candidate for an EU accession in 2022. For months now, elections are considered as a “crossroads” – either in the EU.

Polls are considered unreliable. In addition, almost half voters are obviously still undecided. However, the liberal -conservative, pro -European PAS party could lose the absolute majority it won in 2021 – although it will probably remain the strongest party. Two other election coalitions that, according to polls, will be represented in the new parliament are clearly pro -Russian. In addition to the “Bloc of the Patriots”, there is the “alternative electoral block” of the Mayor of Kissina, Ion Cheban.

Cynical threat by the Russian ambassador

The Coalition “Our Party” (PN) by businessman Renato Usati, who once made his fortune in Russia – a political adventurer and populist who is difficult to put somewhere politically – is also likely to enter Parliament. It could be the decisive factor after the election and determine whether the country will maintain a pro -European government or acquire a pro -Russian.

In the light of this situation, Sandu described the elections as the most important of the country’s independence in 1991 and warned of “defeat of democracy”. He then argued, “Russia will destabilize us and get us out of Europe.” The pro -Russian spectrum does not make much effort to refuse it. Dodon and his patriots block openly support the end of the pro -European march and the return to the Russian structures of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Union.

A few days ago, the Russian ambassador to the capital of Moldova, Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, expressed a cynical threat: Russia supports the maintenance of territorial integrity and neutrality of the Moldovan Republic. Ukraine’s example shows what would happen if its neutral status abandoned.

From a economic point of view, the Kremlin does not need the small, agricultural Republic of Moldova with 2.4 million inhabitants. But the mentality of his leadership led her to start the first post -Soviet war there in the spring of 1992. About 1,500 Russian soldiers and a huge arsenal of arms are currently in Hypernoteria, which was then claimed and remains under autonomy today. Since 2022, the strategic value of the Moldovan Republic has grown because Moscow could wage a war of two fronts against Ukraine, conquering the military to a largely defenseless country.

Network for the purchase of votes

In this context, it is not surprising that Russia is doing everything in its power to overthrow the elections in its favor. A tool for this is the purchase of votes by application. Up to 300,000 voters had already enrolled in it last year. At that time, the government spoke of an “unprecedented hybrid attack” against the Moldovan Republic.

The takeover campaign is coordinated by a network run by Moldovan-Israeli businessman Ilan Sor, whose customers are in Russian intelligence services and eventually in the Kremlin. SOR is the brain of the so -called billions of dollars from 2012 to 2014 and has been legally convicted in the Republic of Moldova. He first escaped to Israel in 2019 and later in Russia. Several parties that founded specifically for the current elections have been banned. For months, Moldovan police have warned against the acquisition of votes.

False news and typical pro -Russian narratives

Another method is the flood of social media, especially Tiktok, with thousands of videos spreading false news. This is effective because the vast majority of Moldovan citizens receive their information mainly from social media. In addition to the typical pro -Russian narratives, many videos argue at present that the “regime” of Maya Sandu is the epitome of corruption and that the ruling PAS sinks hundreds of thousands of people into poverty.

But precisely the Russian war against Ukraine has plunged Moldova into a serious financial crisis, mainly due to the drastic rising energy prices and the suspension of supply with Russian gas since the beginning of 2025. The former president, who is suspected of being suspected. Referring to the yellow color of the PAS party, the main slogan of its election campaign is: “The yellow plague must leave!”
