The International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) has contacts with the warring sides, in order to restore electricity to the Russian controlled nuclear power plant in Southeast Ukraine as soon as possible, the IAEA chief said Tuesday Tuesday. Rafael Grossi.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski had warned that the situation at Zaporizia’s nuclear power plant was critical, complaining that Russian blows in the region prevent efforts to restore external power lines at the factory.
In a video message, Zelenski said that one of the generators who provided electricity no longer works, seven days after the outdoor power lines were stopped. “This is the seventh day. There has never been such an emergency at the Zaporizia (nuclear) station before such an emergency. The situation is critical. Russian bombings have cut the plant from the electricity network »said Zelenski. “And now we have information that one of the generators has stopped working”fill in.
The nuclear station in Zaporizia is the largest in Europe. The loss of its main source of power with electricity has caused concern as electricity is necessary To cool the reactors of the nuclear power plant, even if they are closed.
The head of the IAEA has repeatedly appealed to the warring sides for maximum restraint of the Armed Forces in the area in order to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.
