Hundreds of climbers who had been blocked due to a heavy snowstorm near the east side of Everest in Tibet have survived and transferred to a safe place, while contacting the remaining 200 more people, as unusually intense snowfall and rainfall.

Tibet’s Blue Sky Rescue rescue received a call for help, according to which the scenes collapsed due to heavy snowfall and some hikers suffered from hypothermia.

Residents of villages and rescue groups have been sent to help remove snow that prevents access to the area, which is at an altitude of over 4,900 meters.

The rescued hikers were transferred to the small town of Kudang, according to reports. The rest of the hikers will arrive in Kundang gradually, under the guidance and help of rescuers.

The snowstorm had trapped nearly 1,000 hikers on the mountain, according to China’s state -run media.

A hiker, Chen Geshuang, who was a member of a group of 18 hikers who returned safely to Qudang, said: “It was very cold in the mountains and there was a real risk of hypothermia.”

“The weather this year is not normal. The driver said he had never met such a time in October. And it happened very suddenly, “he told Reuters.

Hundreds of visitors flooded the remote Karma Valley this week, leading to the east side of Everest, taking advantage of the eight -day holiday of China’s national holiday.

The weather forced the local Tingri County Tourism Company to suspend the sale of tickets and entry to the Everest Scenic Area area from Saturday night.
