Fifteen people drowned yesterday Saturday when succulent turned over to rideto northeast GhanaAuthorities announced Sunday Sunday.

The wrecks on this lake are common: in many cases are due to overloading the vessels or collisions with trees immersed in the water.

“Unfortunately, 11 of the victims are children aged two to 14 years (five boys and six girls),” Ghana’s shipping Authority said in a statement, stating that the sailboat was operating from the village of Okouma in the village of Bovim.

The other four victims were “adults, three women and men”, aged 18 to 64, “the same source added.

Only four occupants in the boat survived, according to authorities.

A specialized research unit, involving members of the Navy, was sent to the area to determine the causes of the accident and to attribute any responsibility for violations of the security regulations.

The first elements of the principles indicate overload of the boat. The Shipping Authority said the investigation is being carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport.

There will be a security control operation on the shores of the lake ride to guarantee that the rules on the number of passengers are concerned and the mandatory use of lifeboats are respected, according to authorities.

Such accidents often have many victims in the African state, as many sailors do not have a sufficient number of lifeboats and many passengers do not know swimming.

In August, six people died in a similar accident. And, in May 2023, an identical event had cost the life of 18 occupants.
