THE Kirill Dmitrievspecial envoy of the Russian president Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation, said on Friday that he believed the US, Ukraine and Russia were close to a diplomatic solution to end the more than three-year Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
“I think Russia, the US and Ukraine are actually quite close to a diplomatic solution. It is a great move by President Zelensky to accept the freezing of the front”Dmitriev said on the show “The Lead with Jake Tapper” of CNN.
“You know, his previous position was that Russia should withdraw completely, so actually, I think we’re pretty close to a diplomatic solution that can be reached.”he added.
It is noted that, according to her publication DWthe Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky he said Wednesday from Oslo, where he met with Norway’s prime minister Yunas Gar Storethat he accepts in principle the American proposal to “freeze the current front lines” with Russia, even saying that it is one “good compromise”.
Such a solution would mean, however, that Russia would retain 78% of the Donbas region. For Zelensky this is not the final goal, but the start of any discussion as a “negotiation basis”. However, the Ukrainian president estimated that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putinhe is not going to accept even this compromise in order to sit at the negotiating table.
Regarding the postponed Trump-Putin meeting, Mr Kirill Dmitriev said on Friday that the meeting would take place, but “probably at a later date.”
Meanwhile, his reporter Axiosreported on Friday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), that the envoy of the Russian president, Kirill Dmitrievis expected to meet on Saturday in the United States with the White House envoy, Steve Witkoff.
