The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that it had submitted a letter of protest to the Japanese embassy over the military exercise. Joint Exercise 2025which takes place near the Russian border.

“On October 31, the Japanese Embassy in Moscow was served with a strict protest letter in connection with the Joint Exercise 2025 military exercise, which was held from October 20 to 31 and covered the entire Japanese territory, including areas of the island of Hokkaido, which are in geographical proximity to the Russian Federation,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“It was emphasized, in particular, that such provocative military activity poses a potential threat to the security of Russia’s borders in the Far East,” he notes.

The Russian Foreign Ministry adds that “the land array of the Typhon system, which was deployed at the base of the US armed forces in Iwakuni as part of the Japan-US exercises Resolute Dragon 25 (September 11-25), has not yet been withdrawn from the Japanese archipelago.”

“In this context, the Russian Federation points out that it reserves the right to take the necessary countermeasures to ensure the required level of its security,” the Russian Foreign Ministry underlined.
