Boris Johnson had a meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson traveled to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The trip was not announced in advance and became known through a photo from the meeting of the two leaders that was posted on Twitter by the Ukrainian embassy in United Kingdomaccompanied by the word “surprise”.

Last month, it was reported that Mr Johnson had asked his associates to consider the possibility and expediency of a visit to Kyiv.

Officials in London have been reluctant, but Russian forces have since withdrawn from the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital.

“Britain is leading military support for Ukraine, the anti-war coalition, sanctions against the Russian aggressor,” Andriy Simbiga, the Ukrainian vice president, wrote on Facebook, posting a photo showing the two leaders talking.
