THE Russian President Vladimir Putin, said today that Russia’s financial system is working well and the economic “blitzkrieg” (thunderstorm war) of the West has failed. He added that the risk of undermining the sanctions imposed could increase in the medium and long term.
Speaking after talks with Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko at the Vastotsny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East, and referring to in Western sanctionsPutin said that hopes that in the West common sense will prevail and that if the partners worsen the situation they will feel the consequences themselves.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also stated that what is happening in Ukraine is a tragedy, but Russia had no choice from proceeding to the special military operation.
Putin said the Russian economy would adapt to the new situation, adding that today the world is more complex than it was during the Cold War.
The Russian president also said that Moscow will respond to efforts to isolate Russia and Belarus and stressed the need to deepen the integration between the two countries in the light of Western sanctions, reports the Russian agency RIA.
