In inconvenience caused in Ukraine yesterday’s refusal of the French president Emanuel Macron to denounce, as the president of the USA, as “genocide” the Russian military operations, many French media are reporting today, even pointing out that in Ukraine the neologism “lengthen” has been discovered.
The newspaper Le Figaro notes that when Ukrainians say “macron” (macroner in French), more or less refer to someone “who constantly seems anxious, doing nothing”.
France, meanwhile, has announced that it has handed over additional military equipment worth more than 100 million euros to Ukraine after consulting with its Ukrainian counterpart, Florence Parley.
Parley said the deliveries concerned “means of protection, weapons and ammunition, as well as weapons systems that meet the needs expressed by Ukraine.”
Finally, in the context of the election campaign in France, Marin Le Pen, who is now persona non grata in Ukraine, also spoke out against the use of the term genocide in Ukrainian.
He also reiterated that the annexation of Crimea was legal because it took place after a referendum in the region, and said he would not go to Kiev.
