Israel launched an airstrike near Damascus on Thursday night, the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported.
“An Israeli airstrike hit some positions near Damascus,” SANA said, adding that several explosions were heard in the area.
The official Syrian news agency did not report any casualties.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Israeli Air Force launched an attack on military targets southwest of Damascus.
Since the start of the war in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in its neighboring country, targeting positions of the Syrian army, Iranian forces and Hezbollah.
Israel rarely comments on its attacks on Syrian territory, but has repeatedly stressed that it will not allow Iran to expand its influence in Syria.
The war in Syria has so far caused nearly 500,000 deaths, destroyed the country’s infrastructure and displaced millions.
