A Florida court has ruled that wearing a mask on public transportation is “illegal.”
The reasoning of the court decision states that the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had exceeded the limits of their jurisdiction by imposing the compulsory use of a mask on public transport.
The Biden government has long been under pressure to relax or revoke the measure. Twenty states and major airlines have called for the mask to be lifted, especially on airplanes and other means of public transport.
However, last week US health authorities have extended the mandatory mask for 15 days by travelers on planes, trains, buses, taxis and transport stations, stressing that they needed extra time to assess the impact of the recent outbreak of coronavirus.
There was no immediate comment on the Florida court ruling by either the White House or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
