Germany will continue to support militarily and economically UkraineGerman Chancellor Olaf Solz said after a teleconference with US President Joe Biden and other Western leaders , earlier today.

In a press conference, Soltz said that among the weapons that manufacturers say they could deliver quickly – and that the Ukraine– are anti-tank and defensive weapons. “We will provide the necessary money for the purchase. “The goal is to strengthen the Ukrainian army so that it can repel the Russian attack.” said the German chancellor.

Asked if Germany could send state-of-the-art Leopard tanks to Ukraine, Solz said Berlin and Western countries had concluded that it made more sense to deliver weapons known to the Ukrainians. Allies coordinate deliveries, he added.

Solz repeated that Russian President Vladimir Putin bears responsibility for “war crimes” in Ukraine and that “the Russian invasion is a clear violation of international law.”

From Rome, the Italian government announced that in a teleconference attended by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, the United States and the European Union had agreed that it was necessary to step up pressure on the Kremlin, mainly through the adoption of new sanctions.
