“They have to pay for what they have done” European Council President Charles Michel, who visited the city of Borodyanka on the outskirts of Kiev, said he was shocked by the Russians.
“There are no words to explain how I feel, not as president of the European Council, but as a father, as a human being. These are horrors. These are war crimes. They must be punished… They will be punished. “They have to pay for what they have done, there (Borodyanka) and in many other cities and regions in Ukraine,” Michel said at a news conference in Kyiv.
Speaking next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Michel said he had visited Borodyanka earlier in the day, where mass graves were discovered filled with hundreds of civilians killed after Russian forces withdrew from the Kiev region.
Michel said that the European Union supports a Ukrainian victory against Russia and will do everything possible to support Ukraine.
“Right now, like you, I’m thinking about the people, the citizens in Donbas, Mariupol, in other cities, fighting for their lives. “They are fighting for the sovereignty of Ukraine,” said Michel. “It simply came to our notice then all possible tools in our hands “ committed by the President of the European Council.
