H Canadian Finance Minister Christia Freeland said today that it withdrew from the G20 plenary session in Washington in protest of Russia’s involvement after the invasion of Ukraine that endangers the world economy.
“This week’s meetings in Washington are about supporting the world economy – and the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine poses a serious threat to the world economy.”he said via Twitter, adding that Russia should not participate.
“The world’s democracies will not stand idly by in the face of the ongoing Russian aggression and war crimes. “Today, Canada and some of our Democratic partners withdrew from the G20 plenary session when Russia asked to intervene.”said Freeland, who is also deputy prime minister.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellenthe Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey, the French Minister of Finance Lemerre and others are among those who left the meeting of the “Group of 20” most economically developed countries, before the Russian representative spoke.
