Britain: Well-known DJ accused of sexual abuse

by

The DJ and former star of British hip-hop Tim Westwood is accused of sexually abusing seven women, who spoke to the BBC and the Guardian newspaper on Tuesday.

Three of them accuse the 64-year-old DJ, former BBC radio producer, of aggressive and inappropriate sexual behavior, while four others complain that they were attacked during public events, writes the Guardian.

The events unfolded between 1992 and 2017, when the alleged victims were teenagers or young women.

“Tim Westwood “He categorically denies the allegations of misconduct,” said a spokesman.

“In a career of 40 years, not the slightest complaint was made against him, officially or unofficially.”

The son of an archbishop, Tim Westwood began his career on a local radio station before moving to London, where he worked for BBC Radio 1 and became the voice of rap culture there in the 1990s.

The broadcaster reacted to a press release it issued, condemning “all forms of misconduct” and saying it was “shocked by the accusations”.

The seven women who accuse the DJ will describe what they experienced in a documentary, which will be shown on the BBC.
