THE Adviser to the President Oleksiv Arestovich told the magazine that he was encouraged to flee to a safe place away from Kyiv as the building was unsafe and there was an increased risk of sniper fire or grenade fire. He was given a bulletproof vest and a weapon.
“It was utter madness. Automatic weapons for everyone. The space was wide open. “We did not even have concrete blocks to block the road,” Arestovic said.
He also revealed that Zelensky’s wife and children were still in the compound when the Russians twice tried to invade the building on February 24.
The president remained in the building, while his family was relocated to a safer location. The next night he shot a video to show his family that he was still in Kyiv.
Mr Arestovic also said that Zelenski made a trip to the front lines in early March, taking only a small security team.
