Photographer Eric Kogan has the ability to spot strange coincidences on the streets of New York.
With his lens he captures strangely: a sparrow converses in a fragment of a mirror with a “hi” which is painted on the sidewalk, a dripping hole creates a green waterfall to a weed that grows from the bricks, a string of red balloons climbs a ladder .
Having a background as a painter and with daily work in the event design industry, Kogan often took pictures of trash cans and perfectly aligned clouds.
However, with the launch of COVID-19, he began to focus primarily on photography.
“When I turned my full attention there, one of the first things that changed was where I walked. I was drawn to the most deserted places. Not only because it was more “socially remote” but also because it was the setting for the most casual images the city has to offer. “I liked to follow only one direction and not turn around unless there was no way to get it,” he says.
