THE North Korea launched today ballistic missile “of unknown type» to the east, in the direction of the Korean Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, the South Korean General Staff announced.
This is the 14th Pyongyang weapons test this yearrecorded a week after the North Korean leader’s statement Kim Jong Un that his country’s nuclear arsenal will be “developed” at “the greatest possible speed”.
By 2022, Pyongyang has already conducted several ballistic and supersonic missile tests; among them, it launched in March intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), ending the moratorium it had unilaterally declared in 2017.
At the same time, North Korea defies US assurances that it is ready for dialogue. The negotiation process for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula remains at the absolute impasse in which it found itself in 2019.
