More than 500 kg of cocaine found by Swiss authorities in a coffee bean container destined for its factory Nespresso in Romνn, western Switzerland.

According to the police, Nespresso informed on Monday night that employees of its factory found a quantity unspecified white matter when unloading bags of coffee beans that had just arrived from Brazil.

Laboratory analysis showed that it was cocaine.

A search of five other containers that had arrived the same day followed, which led to the seizure over 500 kg of this drug.

According to police, the cocaine seized was “pure” at more than 80% and its estimated value is 50 million Swiss francs (48 million euros). “It appears that the drugs were destined for the European market,” according to police.

“This substance has not come into contact with any of our products or equipment we use,” Nespresso said in a statement, assuring the public that “all our products are safe to use and consume.”
