Traffic ban in Odessa after the barrage of Russian missile attacks

by

Traffic ban until 5 tomorrow morning has entered into force on Odessaas it is in the crosshairs of Russian missile attacks and while Russia is celebrating Victory Day.

Indicatively, the Russians on Saturday hit the airportcausing damage to the runway and radar systems, while in a neighboring residential complex the windows were broken by the force of the explosions.

Respectively, on Sunday, the authorities reported that two rockets hit residential areas and today stated that the area has received four blows from Onyx missiles that launched from the Crimea.

In fact, during the rocket launch, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, who visited Odessa today, needed to hide in a shelter to protect.

The authorities have expressed the worry as they report, six ships and two submarines are also ready to launch missile strikes in the south.

Aside from repeated rocket attacks, Odessa has largely avoided war, as the front line is several miles east between Nikolaev and Kherson.

It is noted that before the ban, the city trail was full of cyclists, dog walkers and families enjoying the sun. The restaurants overlooking the sea were open, although the beaches are closed.

After 75 days of war, the city is ready for one possible attack.

Sweeping operations in Azofstal

In the meantime, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced earlier that Russian forces, with the help of armor and artillery, carry out “sweeping operations” at the Azofstal steel plant in Mariupolwhere the last defenders of Mariupol have been fortified.

Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanik did not provide further details, but said there could be future attacks by Russian bombers.

Russia has in the past denied allegations by Ukrainian officials that it has tried to make raid on the factory in the Sea of Azovwhere they have found refuge.

Meanwhile, the Russian news agency Interfaxa, citing today’s statements the head of the Russian negotiators, Vladimir Medinsky, conveyed that the Peace talks with Ukraine have not stopped and are being conducted remotely.

THE Moscow blames Kyiv that it is delaying the talks and that it is using reports of atrocities committed by Russian troops to undermine the negotiations. Russia denies targeting civilians in what it calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine.

Asked when live talks with Ukrainian negotiators could take place, Medinsky replied: “We need to be more specific in order to meet in person.”

The Ukrainian and Russian negotiating teams have not held live peace talks since March 29, although they have videotaped talks.

THE Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last month that there was a high risk of talks endingblaming public outrage over what he said was horrific atrocities committed by Russian forces as they withdrew from parts of northern Ukraine around Kyiv.

THE Russian President Vladimir Putin calls Moscow’s actions a “special military operation” aimed at disarming Ukraine, defending Russian-speakers from persecution and preventing the US and its allies from using the country to threaten Russia.

Ukraine denies Putin’s allegations of persecution and denies that Ukraine or Western countries pose any threat to Russia.
