by

THE Elizabeth Bourne is the new Prime Minister of France. Emanuel Macron elected the party member The Republic In Marchewho had served as Minister of Labor, Ecology and Minister of Transport, to replace Jean Castex, who resigned a few hours earlier.

Elizabeth Bourne, born April 18, 1961 in Paris, is a graduate of the Polytechnic, a civil servant and a member of the French Socialist Party. From time to time he was an advisor to Lionel Jospin, Jacques Lagg and Segolen Royal.

In 2017 he became Minister of Transport, in the first government under the presidency of Emanuel Macron, in July 2019 he became Minister of Ecological Transition and the following year Minister of Labor. He belongs to the left wing of the ruling party, with knowledge of the ecological issue, while he has the reputation of a politician who carries out whatever he undertakes. However, it is not considered very communicative.

She will remain in the post of prime minister at least until the June parliamentary elections, when it will be determined whether the presidential majority under Macron is also parliamentary. If not, the French president will have to appoint a prime minister with the confidence of the French National Assembly. The leader of the French Left, Jean-Luc Melanson spoke of a “fixed-term contract” estimating that in a month her successor will be the same.

At the moment, however, the new prime minister is visiting the outgoing, after two years of prime ministership, Jean Castex and then together with President Macron, as stipulated by the French Constitution, they will elect the cabinet.

This is the second time that France has a female prime minister. The first time was in 1992, when François Mitterrand appointed Edith Cresson.
