The driver of a suburban train was killed and dozens of people were injured when the train they were riding in collided with another outside Barcelona, the Catalan authorities announced tonight.
About 85 people were injured, two of them seriously, according to disaster management services.

The collision occurred around 20.00 (Greek time) when a freight train derailed and crashed into a passenger train at Sant Boy de Jobregat station, about 14 km from Barcelona.
“The driver of the passenger train was killed in the collision,” the local governor said.

There are still about 100 passengers on the train and the operation to free them is underway.
