From the colors to the equipment packages, everything that comes in the Audi Q3 Sporback made in Hungary will also be in the national version.
Soon, the German automaker will produce the car in São José dos Pinhais (PR), still as a 2022 line. Most of the parts will come from Europe, such as the 2.0 TFSI (231 hp) gasoline engine. The automatic transmission has eight gears and the all-wheel drive uses the quattro system, patented by the manufacturer.
The Sportback line is Audi’s answer to the wave of coupe-style SUVs – in which the rear has a slight drop, leaving the car more elongated. It’s a classic case of form trumping function, with no practical gains compared to traditional SUVs.
But it is a market demand: the automaker estimates that this type of body will be responsible for 43% of sales of its “urban jeeps” in the second half of the year.
Q3 Sportaback prices start at R$316,000. The list of standard equipment includes a multimedia system with a 10.25-inch screen, electrically opening trunk (530 liters capacity), 18-inch wheels and air conditioning with two independent temperature zones. The equivalent version of the conventional body of the Q3, which will also be produced in Brazil, costs R$ 291 thousand.
The arrival of new nationalized models marks the resumption of the company’s investments in the country. The Paraná production line was stopped throughout 2021, and its return was conditioned to the refund of tax credits generated during the Inovar-Auto program (2012-2017).
The money has not yet returned in full, but the company saw the need to resume operations amid a parts shortage. The second half is expected to arrive with some improvement in the global scenario, but the normality of semiconductor supply will not come until 2023.
The automaker also invests in the installation of fast charging points at 42 dealerships throughout Brazil. The investment of R$ 20 million serves to stimulate the sale of electric models of the e-Tron line.
