Companies are mobilizing to help victims and residents of the region affected by the rains that have already left at least 127 dead in Pernambuco.

Americanas, in partnership with the UniãoBR Movement, gathered 50 tons of products such as blankets, towels, sheets and household items.

Unimed Recife created collection points in the state’s hospital units and in the administrative center for clothing donations in order to help employees who lost goods during the flood. The company also advanced the 13th salary and offered gift cards to replace items lost in the rain.

Claro says it is working with the program Embrace the Northeast, from Cufa (Central Única das Favelas), which is collecting donations to revert to food and other products.

iFood also claims to have reinforced action with Cufa to collect donations. Delivery service users can also contribute by accessing the donation environment in the app or when completing an order.

The DPSP Group, owner of São Paulo and Pacheco drugstores, plans to donate 1,000 hygiene items, such as disposable geriatric and children’s diapers, alcohol gel, liquid soap and masks.

Ambev says it has donated so far 13,000 liters of water and 12,000 liters of milk.

Coca-Cola and manufacturer Solar say they are working together with local NGOs, with support from municipalities and business partners. In Pernambuco, 2,500 food baskets and more than 60,000 liters of water were delivered.

The Estimulo Social Fund decided to release R$ 1 million in credit to help small entrepreneurs in Greater Recife who had losses due to the rains.
