Entities send a letter to Bolsonaro asking for a veto on free luggage

by

Abear (Brazilian Airline Association), Alta (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association), IATA (International Air Transport Association) and the Board of Representatives of International Airlines of Brazil sent a letter to the Presidency the Republic, the Civil House and the Ministries of Economy, Infrastructure and Tourism, in addition to the Civil Aviation Secretariat and Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency), to request a veto on the return of the mandatory baggage allowance.

Among the reasons presented against the return of the mandatory baggage allowance, the document highlights that the adoption of the measure misaligns Brazil with international best practices, as only Cuba and North Korea still adopt this measure.

In addition, the current model of charging for the franchise allows for a cheaper fare class for those who fly without luggage. Previously, the value of the order was diluted in the price of tickets for all passengers, even if someone only had one piece of luggage on board.
