Parque Shopping Belém, in the capital of Pará, launched an action to help those who are struggling to let go of the memories left with the end of the relationship. The Loja do Ex, installed in the shopping center, is collecting gifts from ex-boyfriends that will be donated to a non-profit association.
Opened last Saturday (4), the space has already started to receive the first “detachments”, such as clothes and stuffed animals, and will be open until June 30, from 10 am to 10 pm.
According to the mall’s superintendent, Andréa Mendonça, the initiative, which plays with the celebration of Valentine’s Day, this June 12, has a social objective.
“It was an action that we created with the objective of collecting things that people no longer use. The idea is to sort the items and allocate what was selected to our partner institution.”
The one chosen was Movimento de Emaús, an association that carries out actions with children, adolescents and adults in the Amazon region, in situations of social vulnerability.
Interested parties can donate from clothes, shoes and coats, to pillows and decorative objects. Donations must be in good condition and perishable products will not be accepted.
Loja do Ex also has a message board to gather the relief of those who have suffered a heartbreak, says Andréa. “The idea is to gather these messages that will be left there to make a joke on social networks”, she says.
Despite the Valentine’s Day theme, the space is open for donations in general. “The background of the ex is just to create the game. The main purpose is to collect items that the person has at home and that are of no use to them.”
