Panel SA: Ad with sexual gesture between taxi and Uber car will stop at Conar

by

Conar (National Council for Advertising Self-Regulation) has filed a lawsuit against the streaming service Paramount+ for an advertisement that showed an Uber car on top of a yellow taxi making sexually connotative movements.

The ad was part of the publicity campaign for the series “Super Pumped – The Battle for Uber”, which tells the backstage of the American company’s business, and was broadcast on the website and other types of media, according to the whistleblower.

According to Conar, the complaint was forwarded by Gilmar Pereira Miranda, executive secretary of transport and urban mobility for the city of São Paulo. Two other consumers also complained.

The body’s top council took over the case.

Paramount+ says it “has not received any notification and awaits further developments in this information before commenting on the matter.”

The average term for a case to go to trial at first instance at Conar is 45 days.
