Panel SA: Railways ask for freight readjustment to compensate for fuel surge

by

ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) analyzes a request for a readjustment in rail transport freight.

The request was sent by the ANTF (National Association of Rail Transporters), which brings together the main companies in the sector, to compensate for the weight of the soaring of diesel on the costs of the operation.

The association prepared a study sent to ANTT to detail the effects of the mega-increase on both the operation and the construction of new railways.

Pressure to adjust contracts has also grown among highway concessionaires, impacted by the rise in petroleum asphalt cement.

According to Marco Aurélio Barcelos, CEO of ABCR (an association that brings together companies), deals closed more than a year ago are out of date.

One of the industry representatives who have publicly criticized Petrobras’ pricing policy, José Ricardo Roriz, president of Abiplast (plastics), has been meeting with other sectors and the Ministry of Economy to defend that the root of the problem to be faced is in refining.

“Several refineries were announced, billions were spent, and today we have a deficit of oil derivatives. You have to add value here. When you have a refinery, you make fertilizers, chemicals, polymers, paint. Since we have enough to export, why don’t we add value here in Brazil?”, he says.
