Panel SA: Railways expect ten more freight readjustments this year

While the rail transport companies ask the ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) for an extraordinary adjustment to balance the impacts of the diesel boom on the sector, the regulatory agency has another ten ordinary increases to grant this year.

These are the annual readjustments, provided for in the concession agreements, based on the IPCA to maintain the economic-financial balance of the concession.

Four concessionaires will have their rates readjusted in July: Rumo Malha Oeste, Vale Estrada de Ferro Carajás, Vale Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas and Ferrovia Norte Sul Tramo Central.

In August, it will be the turn of the Centro-Atlântica Railway. In September, that of the West-East Integration Railway. In October, the Paraná Oeste Railroad.

MRS Logística has the readjustment scheduled for November, according to ANTT, before the Norte Sul Tramo Norte Railway and the Transnordestina Logística Railway, in December.

Rumo’s central network has already had the annual increase released. It was 11.73%.

According to the ANTF (National Association of Railway Transport), the entity that sent the request for an extraordinary freight adjustment to the regulator, the effects of the mega-increase in fuel impact both the operation and the construction of new railroads.
