Former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) met again with businessmen at a dinner this Tuesday (29), in São Paulo. The meeting is already being considered by people close to one of the most successful between PT and representatives of the sector so far in the pre-campaign.
According to participants, the dinner consolidated the rupture of a barrier that still existed between Lula and the GDP. The former president is increasingly comfortable talking to representatives of the financial market and the business class, while the group, previously unwilling, is more interested in listening to him.
On the occasion, Lula told PIB that there will be no surprises or surprises in a possible new government and that no sudden change will be proposed without first being agreed with society.
The rapport between PT and former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) also stood out at the table. Good-natured, the vice-presidential candidate made jokes and joked all the time with the gifts. Lula even said that the two look like a couple that has been together for over 50 years.
Alckmin spoke to the guests about the importance of policies adopted during the Fernando Henrique Cardoso administrations and of expansions made during Lula’s terms, saying that the country lived a virtuous era under both of them.
Lula amended and said that the historic dispute between PT and PSDB “was a luxury” for Brazil. According to the ex-president, the acronyms discussed, diverged and gave “canelada”, but at the end of a rally they would meet and toast with a beer for respecting each other and having a commitment to the country.
This was another nod from the former president to the PSDB after the unease caused by the declaration that the legend was over. The speech was made by him at the end of May, during an event at PUC (Pontifical Catholic University) São Paulo.
Organized by lawyers Marco Aurélio de Carvalho, Sérgio Renault and Pierpaolo Cruz Bottini, this Tuesday’s dinner was held in Renault’s apartment, in Jardins. Before the event, a line of employees of the building and neighbors of the host formed in the garage to welcome and take pictures with the PT’s pre-candidate for Palácio do Planalto.
The dinner brought together about 30 people. Businessmen João Camargo, Cândido Pinheiro, Pedro Silveira, Rosângela Lyra, Carlos Sanchez, Matheus Santiago, among others, were there.
Former minister Aloizio Mercadante and economist Gabriel Galipolo, who are heading the discussions in the economic area for the PT government plan, state deputy Emídio se Souza (PT), the national vice president of the PT, Márcio Macedo, and the lawyers Gabriela Araujo and Nelson Wilians also attended.
As shown in the column earlier this month, Lula and sectors of the PT assessed that the time has come for the former president to open up the agenda, in a broader way, to dialogue with the business community. His meetings with representatives of PIB, until now, had been restricted to practically meetings with old acquaintances, such as Abilio Diniz and José Seripieri Junior, from Qsaúde.
Lula’s continued advantage over Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the polls has increased the queue of businessmen, bankers and representative entities waiting to talk to him.
