CTO Juliano Pereira, 37, is suing Optat Consulting and the multinational Oracle for racial slur after being called a “nigga” in a video meeting.
Managing partner of Proz Educação, Pereira says that he was negotiating the implementation and costs of a project at the end of October last year. According to the executive, after an hour of conversation without an agreement, he exposed his loss of confidence in the partnership and his intention to tell other partners what had happened.
Rebutting, Matheus Mason Adorno, who represented Optat Consulting, said: “Gee, nigga, then you fuck me”.
“I ended the meeting on time. I said that this type of treatment was unacceptable and said that the contract was cancelled”, says Pereira.
Proz’s contract with Optat to deploy Oracle software was worth R$1 million and would last for three years. When the contract was terminated, according to the executive, he had already disbursed R$ 400 thousand.
“To this day, I still don’t have the system. But I want it to serve as a pedagogical character, as a jurisprudence. Today, being racist in Brazil costs nothing for a company. I don’t want my three-year-old son to go through this in his professional life too.” , it says.
The lawsuits against the representative of Optat Consulting and Oracle ask for compensation of R$ 50 thousand, each.
The technology director accuses Oracle of not having taken any action against the consulting company. “I formalized the complaint, questioning Oracle’s code of ethics. They opened an internal audit and nothing. I asked for a recording of the meeting, and they said they had not recorded it”, says Pereira.
Sought, Oracle has not manifested itself so far. Matheus Mason Adorno also did not respond.
Optat Consulting says that “it will respond to the process for the restoration of the truth of the facts and will enter with the appropriate judicial measures”.
In a statement, the consulting firm “regrets that Mr. Juliano Pereira has used such a serious and noble cause, which is the fight against racism, to promote revenge for contractual and financial issues”.
“It is very strange that a fact that took place more than eight months ago has come to light only now, with false accusations and distorted facts. why? Why have you only now sued the company for moral damages?”, says Optat Consulting.
