After a first semester with a 5% drop in the production of light and heavy vehicles compared to the same period in 2021, Anfavea (association of automakers) revised its forecasts for 2022.
The entity now expects the year to end with a 4.1% rise in manufacturing. Regarding sales, the expectation is for an increase of 1% over last year.
In January, Anfavea believed that 2.46 million vehicles would be produced in 2022, which would represent a growth of 9.4% compared to the previous period. In commercialization, the expectation was for a high of 8.5%.
In the first half, 1.09 million vehicles left the assembly lines, a number that includes passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, buses and trucks. By the end of the year, the association now expects 2.34 million units to be assembled. The numbers of the motorcycle sector will be released next week by Abraciclo.
The review made now by Anfavea remains more optimistic compared to the predictions of Fenabrave (association of dealers), which now projects stability in the market, with no advance in relation to 2021.
Last month ended with 203,600 units manufactured, which means a drop of 1.1% compared to May, but there was a rise of 21.5% compared to June 2021.
Márcio de Lima Leite, president of Anfavea, says that there was a slight improvement in the supply of parts, but even so, there were 20 stops at factories in the first half, with an estimated loss of 170,000 cars.
Inventories rose between May and June: there are enough cars to meet 24 days of sales, which was attributed to the punctual increase in production. Leite explains that two automakers received components to complete the assembly of vehicles that are incomplete in the yards, which led to the discharge.
However, there is a drop in participation in financed sales, which today represent around 40% of negotiations, according to Anfavea. The effect is attributed to higher interest rates and greater restrictions by banks for credit approval. “And the approvals have come with some changes, such as a larger entry and changes in the payment term”, says the president of the entity.
