At event, Elon Musk talks about Mars and birth rates, but is silent on Twitter

Elon Musk avoided discussing the failed deal with Twitter when he addressed an audience of tycoons on Saturday in Sun Valley, two sources attending the conference told Reuters.

In a far-reaching interview, Musk spent most of his time talking about colonizing Mars and extolling the virtues of increasing birth rates on Earth, the sources said.

Musk, executive chairman of Tesla Inc and rocket company Space X, has long advocated establishing a civilization on the red planet.

Musk said last week he would do his best to help what he called the “underpopulation crisis” following a media report that he is the father of twins to a top executive at his chip startup Neuralink.

He talked about how birth rates are falling in rich countries, a topic he explored extensively on Twitter.

The billionaire entrepreneur took the stage at the Allen & Co Sun Valley Conference, an annual gathering of media and technology executives in Idaho, less than 24 hours after announcing he was ending his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter Inc.
