By legislative order of the Ministry of Finance, the deadline for submitting tax returns is extended until August 30, 2022.
In a new extension of the deadline for submitting tax returns, until August 30, the government decided, with a legislative provision filed by the Ministry of Finance.
Despite the fact that this year the electronic platform for submitting personal income tax returns started operating from March 30, 2022 and until yesterday 81% of tax returns had been submitted, this time extension was deemed imperative due to the particular circumstances that prevail, to facilitate tax-paying citizens, accountants and tax professionals, exhausting any extension of time.
Please note that the first two monthly installments (July and August) of the tax due must be paid by August 31, 2022.
The Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras and the Deputy Minister of Tax Policy and Public Property, Apostolos Vesyropoulos made the following statement:
“The Government, being fully aware of the difficulties faced by citizens and the increased workload of accountants and tax experts recently, due to the energy crisis which requires the submission of applications to various electronic support platforms, but also due to the pandemic which leads to delays in the work of citizens and accountants who are ill, proceeds to extend the deadline for submitting tax returns until August 30. This is the last extension given, so that everyone can complete the process of submitting statements and be consistent in their obligations.”
