Government’s goal is to pay Brazil Aid of R$ 600 from August 9, says minister

by

The Minister of the Civil House, Ciro Nogueira, said this Thursday (21) that the Federal Executive intends to start paying the Auxílio Brasil of R$ 600 until August 9. Regarding the R$ 1,000 voucher for truck drivers, the objective is to start payment on August 5, according to Nogueira.

The head of the portfolio that coordinates all the ministries of the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) also admitted the difficulty in providing the benefit to taxi drivers, which should start being paid only at the end of August.

This is because the government does not have a record of all professionals in this area in the country and payment will depend on a partnership with the municipalities.

Regarding Auxílio Brasil, he denied that the increase has an electoral purpose and said that the goal is to get the money to all beneficiaries as soon as possible.

“We set August 9 as the ideal date and we are making every effort in the world so that we can meet that date. this feature will be on the 9th”, he said.

The payment of benefits will only be possible thanks to the approval of a PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) that overturns the laws that deal with elections and public accounts to allow the government to boost social benefits.

This takes place on the eve of the official start of the elections and in the midst of a scenario in which Bolsonaro appears behind former president Lula (PT) in all polls of voting intentions. The idea of Palácio do Planalto is that the increases in benefits will leverage its popularity and make it a favorite against PT.

Ciro Nogueira is one of the leaders of the center and was one of the great advocates of readjustments in benefits.
