Panel SA: Restaurants say Paulinho da Força refuses dialogue with the sector to exchange food stamps for money

by

After deputy Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade-SP) called the complaints of restaurant owners, worried about the possibility that the payment of meal vouchers will be made in cash, “small talk”, Abrasel (a sector association) says that what was lacking was dialogue.

Paulo Solmucci, president of Abrasel, says that the deputy, rapporteur of the provisional measure on the subject, did not consult the sector.

“The deputy didn’t listen to anyone. In fact, he didn’t even formally present his report. He escaped from the dialogue with the interested parties, hides his report from society and even from his fellow deputies”, Solmucci said.

He says that the deputy “disrespects and ignores the dramatic situation of the sector, which paid an unfair and disproportionate bill for the collective good” in the pandemic.

To Panel SA, Paulinho said that, if the benefit is given in cash, the worker will continue eating in restaurants, as long as the food is good and cheap.

Restaurant owners, in turn, think that people will spend the amount on other expenses, which can put small establishments, more dependent on voucher receipts, at risk.
