The minister noted that from January 2023, the procedures for determining the new minimum wage will also be launched.

Speaking to SKAI and the “Morning News” show, Minister of Labor Kostis Hatzidakis stated his commitment that pensions will be unfrozen from January 2023 despite the difficult winter ahead.

“Based on the already existing legislation, pensions will generally be unfrozen, after 12 years”, the minister said characteristically, assuring that there is the necessary money in the state budget despite the pressures he is under. “Everything has been weighed and has been agreed for a long time,” he added

He reiterated that the amount of the increase in pensions will result from the increase in GDP plus the increase in the consumer price index and this amount will be divided by two.

He also noted that from January 23, the procedures for determining the new minimum wage will be launched.

As he said, the repayment of outstanding pensions is “on the final stretch”. He pointed out that in the first half of 2022, 15,000 more decisions on main pensions were issued compared to 2019.
