Panel SA: Consumer protection NGO demands accountability for transport of elderly people

by

The consumer protection NGO Idec sent a statement to the Ministries of Regional Development and Economy asking bus concessionaires to account for the resources passed to them through the PEC of social benefits.

The measure determined financial assistance in the amount of R$ 2.5 billion to help with the cost of free travel for the elderly.

Now, Idec asks that companies be required to provide a document that proves the operation of the service, the general cost of the system and an estimate of the total deficit generated in the pandemic.

It also says that municipalities must show how and with what the resource was used, in addition to the impact on public transport and for users.
