The CNA (Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil) signaled this Wednesday (10) its support for the candidacy of Jair Bolsonaro in the next election.
After highlighting the importance of agribusiness, in an event that brought together the 27 federations and unions of the sector, in Brasília, João Martins da Silva Junior, president of the entity, stated that the sector is good at producing, has technology and equipment, but that is not all. it is necessary.
“We need much more. We need Brazil to modernize. We need the National Congress that will be elected to have the courage to vote on the major reforms that the country needs.”
For him, Brazil has to position itself as a leader in the world. “We are aware of our role, but we also have to be aware of what we can do for this country, in addition to producing”.
The president of the CNA stated, during the event with the producers, that “you have signaled very clearly that there is no more room in this country for a corrupt and incompetent team. “, a reference to former president Lula.
He also highlighted the need for the election of a Congress committed to major reforms and “a president who gives continuity to what we are seeing today”.
Martins da Silva highlighted that, upon returning home, the producer must be a monitor at home, at work, on farms and in his community. “We need to clarify to the population what is good and what is bad. To intervene in this electoral process.”
The objective of the producers’ meeting in Brasília was to present a document with the sector’s proposals for the presidential candidates. Jair Bolsonaro was present at the event and spoke for an hour.
Bruno Lucchi, CNA’s technical director, was responsible for making a synthesis of the main points of the document, which will still be discussed in the state federations.
The suggestions weren’t just limited to the next president, but Congress as well. The points presented were not restricted, for the first time, only to agribusiness, but to an entire government policy.
According to Lucchi, “for agriculture to do well, Brazil also needs to do well”. The document contains four axes, according to the technical director: food security and economic, social and sustainable development.
In order to have food security, technological innovations, logistics development, advances in the international market and access to food are necessary.
The country needs to produce, but the population needs to have access to food. For this, guaranteeing the non-dependence of fertilizers, approving the law on pesticides and bio-inputs, in addition to developing irrigation, says Lucchi.
For him, access to food can be achieved by increasing the efficiency of social programs, which should be transitory, not eternal.
In order to increase production and access to food, better development of logistics and greater opening of the international market, which complements the Brazilian market, are needed, predicts the CNA.
In terms of economic development goals, Lucchi highlights the need for structural reforms. One of them is politics, which must have campaign financing by the private sector, in a transparent way. In the administrative field, the country must make the machine lighter and more digitized.
As for tax reform, Lucchi stresses the need for simplification, but without transferring this burden to agribusiness.
He highlights the need for modernization of agricultural policy, with a view to rural insurance, green financing, credit to family farming and reduction of financing costs.
Social development must be guided by research in health, budget allocation and greater efficiency in the sector. In education, the technical director points out the need to promote technical and managerial assistance, which results in more productivity and income. Science, according to him, should also be present in schools.
In the labor sector, the CNA proposes advances in labor reform and labor training programs.
The fourth axis of the CNA document refers to sustainable development, where the proposals are for the analysis and validation of the CAR (Rural Environmental Registry) by the states. The entity also emphasizes the need to pay for environmental services, implementation of the national carbon policy in agriculture and the search for international agreements.
Lucchi also stressed the need for land tenure regularization, with demarcation of indigenous lands and combating invasions, which, in his view, should be considered a terrorist act.
