Aircraft crash with 180 people will be simulated at Confins International Airport

A scenario of an aeronautical accident with a commercial plane and a large number of victims will be simulated this week at Belo Horizonte International Airport, in Confins, informed the concessionaire BH Airport this Tuesday (16).

On August 18, at 2 pm, the airport and Faculdade Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais will simulate the response to a complete aeronautical emergency around the terminal, between the municipalities of Lagoa Santa and Vespasiano.

The scenario proposed for the exercise is the simulation of an aircraft approaching the airport, with reports of fire, smoke, degradation of electronics and consequent fall, with deaths and survivors who will require assistance.

In addition to putting the Emergency Plan into practice and training the teams involved, the exercise will also simulate assistance to victims and their families, in addition to the press.

The purpose of the simulation, which complies with the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation RBAC-153, is to evaluate and exercise all the elements involved in responding to an aeronautical emergency, testing:

• the Emergency Operations Center;
• communications and alarms;
• support tools;
• the Mobile Coordination Post;
• external and internal resources;
• the removal of victims;
• the Emergency Volunteer Corps;
• the Aerodrome Fire Plan;
• the Plan for the Removal of Inoperative Aircraft and Runway De-interdiction; and
• the Plan for Assistance to Victims of Aeronautical Accidents and Support for their Families.

“The simulation is the moment when we assess the strengths and weaknesses, as well as improve ourselves to act in a more agile and safe way, improving the response time in airport emergencies. The involvement of all teams contributes to the transfer of knowledge and so that everyone can also act in unforeseen situations”, emphasizes Robson Freitas, Operations and Security manager at BH Airport.

Trauma simulation takes place simultaneously

During the Aerodrome Emergency Simulation Exercise, Faculdade Ciências Médicas-MG will insert students from the Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine and Psychology courses in the test, with the aim of simultaneously carrying out the 7th edition of its Trauma Simulation.

“From a pedagogical point of view, the simulation is a relevant instrument that enhances the learning of professionals in the health and emergency area by inserting them in a context in which it is necessary to correctly perform the essential procedures of the emergency care protocol. victims in an emergency situation”, emphasizes Professor Rosana Amaral, pedagogical coordinator of the Laboratory of Skills and Realistic Simulation at Faculdade Ciências Médicas-MG.
